Ahnji's beginnings Empty
PostSubject: Ahnji's beginnings   Ahnji's beginnings Icon_minitimeWed Feb 27, 2008 2:54 pm

Ahnji was born in Feralas at the Feathermoon Stronghold nearly ten centuries ago. His parents, Fargus and Leluleandra Misanagi had been in Feralas for many years. They raised Ahnji there to keep him away from the big city life of Darnassus. His father, Fargus, was the local baker in Feathermoon, and many people, night elf and human alike traveled from neighboring villages to come buy from him. Ahnji's mother, Leluleandra, was a healer and had started training to become a head priest shortly before he was born. His childhood was spent in Feralas, where he frolocked in the wild surrounding the village with his friends. A human boy, named Colby, and another night elf, named Utheal. The three boys spent years there together until one day, when Colby reached the human age of 15, he and his parents left Feralas for the city of Stormwind. Colby was to join the army and begin his training. Ahnji never saw Colby again after that day, and many centuries have gone by since Colby would have passed on to the next life.

Two hundred years came and went without much event. Utheal left Feralas to go to the night elf home city of Darnassus. Ahnji started working alongside his father in the bakery and quickly became very good at what he did. Despite his ability to weild a rolling pin with the expertise that a rogue wielded a dagger, Ahnji felt like there was more to be done with his life than just be a baker like his father. He began asking many questions about the big city of Darnassus as well as the Alliance of elf and men but he was given few, if any, answers. Frustrated, he secretly sent word to Darnassus so that he might once again gain contact with his childhood friend Utheal. Several months went by before he finally received a letter from Utheal. He had joined the Alliance as well, and had been travelling back and forth from Darnassus to Stormwind, and even the great halls of Ironforge where the dwarves reside. This letter sparked Ahnji's interest even more and he began pushing to get more answers from his parents. Finally they told him the reason why they kept quiet. They did not want him to get involved because many who did, and went to war, never returned. They did not condone war or violence, and so they had kept Ahnji deaf and blind to the happenings in the world outside Feralas.

At the age of 315, Ahnji and his family were blessed with another child. His sister, Aurandia, was born. Joyous as this occasion was, and as happy as it made Ahnji, her birth hindered all hopes of him leaving to Darnassus any time soon. His parents required his help in order to raise Aurandia and to be able to give her a childhood and education just as good as Ahnji had. Aurandia matured quite rapidly being surrounded by adults most of her childhood and was soon aiding in the every day chores. She seemed to have taken a liking to bringing home food for supper. Being quite skilled with a bow, she was already venturing on her own out into the wild to hunt game at the age of 105. With the help of all four family members, life was good.

This was not to last however. While traveling one day, for the city of Gadgetzan; a trip of only a few days, Ahnji and Aurandia's parents stumbled across an encampment of ogres. They tried to pass around in a wide enough berth undetected, but they were spotted by one of the ogre scouts. They were captured and kept at the camp for days. Finally, fearing for their lives, Fargus let loose on one of the guards holding them and shouted for his wife to flee and save herself. Reluctant to leave her husband, Leluleandra wanted to stay and help, but quickly turned and ran from the oncoming ogres. Fargus had already been put down by the two guards holding them, and Leluleandra was stopped just as easily with a single spear.

The ogres left the bodies at the encampment after they left, and only a caravan coming back to Feralas discovered them as they passed through. No one knew who the elves were, but the tabard that was worn by the male elf might provide a clue back in Feathermoon. They carefully placed the bodies into one of the wagons and covered them out of respect. Once in Feathermoon, word quickly spread that two elves were found slain in the wild. When this news reached the Misanagi household, Ahnji's face became horrified as his parents were already several days late in their return. He ran to meet the caravan and stopped short when he found the wagon with the covered bodies. He approached slowly and was intercepted by a human man. Tall and tanned, the man held a tabard in his hands that beared the symbol from the bakery of Ahnji's father. This proved it, it was his father and mother that had died in the wild.

After their parents were buried, Ahnji and Aurandia were left alone in Feralas. With no more friends, or family, life became difficult for the two, and the memories left in the household and bakery became unbearable. Ahnji decided that it was time to move on. He had already known in his heart that he was not destined to be a baker all his life. He packed up all the belongings he and his sister had, and got into their wagon to begin traveling to Tanaris. They were leaving behind their life there, and starting anew in Darnassus.

- Interlude -

Once in Darnassus, Ahnji found a small place to call home for his sister and himself, and then immediately went to meet with the Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm. He needed to join the Alliance and do something bigger with his life. He travelled to Stormwind to meet in the Keep and receive his papers to start his training as a warrior. He had already shown some skill with the sword while he was waiting to meet with the captain of the guard. A man, wearing some plate armor but no rank decoration was passing by as he saw Ahnji swinging at the practice dummy with a sword. The man approached Ahnji and drew his sword asking if he could have the honor of a friendly sparring match. Metal blades clashed and rang out in the Keep's training hall as the elf and man went at it. Several minutes went by, with neither one showing sign of stopping, when the man stepped back and lowered his sword. He spoke to Ahnji telling him that he had great skill, and great promise in becoming a warrior in the Alliance army. He would go far and experience many a great adventure in his years to come. As it turned out, this man was the captain of the guard Ahnji had come to meet. Captain Loche, was his name. Loche told Ahnji to return to Darnassus and speak with the warrior trainer Arias'ta Bladesinger to begin training.

(( More to follow one day ))

This is great! Do you have any specific short stories on Ahnji written other than the background written up? I'll be they would be fantastic.

I'm a closet fantasy writer. Maybe some day I'll share what I've written. I'm working on one WoW-like story and have an idea for another one swirling around in my head.

I don't have any specific stories on him, but I have read the lore of Warcraft since the universe itself was created to the latest expansion, and I think, if so inclined, that I could write stories about him using that knowledge. Obviously at almost 1,000 years old he is extremely young compared to the Warcraft universe itself, but nonetheless, alot can happen in a millennia.
